Recently I was sent the most awesome pamper package from Gift Genie, and I absolutely have to share these products with you!

Now, normally I’m not crazy about ‘pamper’ products. I’ve always thought that makeup, creams, and even perfume are foreign objects and have never really known what to do with them. But obviously, as I get older I see the need for proper body butter, face creams, and even a good mascara for those days that people will be taking photos.

Still, the act of consciously applying anything on a regular basis is one adult task I am still working on (just like keeping house plants alive and having a proper face care routine). So if I find a product that I enjoy using, I stick to it. Especially with creams, because I can’t stand the oily ones or the very strong scents.

Ok, here’s what you need to know about Earthly Muse…

Who is Earthly Muse?

Earthly Muse is a South African company that makes skin care products. Their products use locally-sourced ingredients, are paraben-free, and are not tested on animals (big positive there!).

The products are all made with fruity fragrances, and they use this fantastic oil (Inca Inchi organic oil) that has omega 3 and 6 – this oil is supposed to add moisture to your skin. This is probably why I love them so much!

Who is Gift Genie?

So this website is actually really cool. It’s essentially an online gift store. They stock locally-made, eco-conscious products, and have some amazing gifts for sale.

When you make a purchase, you can select a gift card too, so it seems like an awesome way to send a package to someone who’s a bit far.

Products Break Down (Tried & Tested)

So I got my hands on these products a couple of weeks ago. While I tried them all out immediately, I wanted to see if I still loved them as much as time went on. Spoiler alert – I do!

Here’s more info on the products I’ve tried:

Sandalwood & Cedar Foam Bath

This. Is. My. Favourite.

Thanks to the water restrictions in the Western Cape I haven’t had a bath at home in about 2 years (I did have one at the Santos Express on honeymoon, though). But after smelling this bubble bath I had to try it out.

I ran a sensibly mid-level bath and squirted more product than I needed. There really is no way to describe the smell (you’ll have to try it out), but it created an incredibly relaxing bathtime.

The bubbles were just enough, without making the bath all slippery, and the water didn’t become oily or soapy. My skin also felt really good afterwards.

Like I said, I squirted way too much in. I got a 250 ml pump bottle, and that could easily get you through a month of bubbly bathtimes (possibly a year if you’re in Cape Town and only bath when you’ve made sure you’ve used minimal water throughout the day).

At first, I wasn’t too keen on the pump bottle for foam bath – but in hindsight, it actually helps you not waste any. You can also get it in Peach & Pomegranate and in a 1L bottle & 5L Jug.

Melon Hand & Body Lotion

Ah, melon and me have become very good friends over the last couple of weeks. I mostly use this after my shower. The consistency is perfect (or at least just like I like it).

It soaks into your skin without leaving a weird oily feeling, and makes your skin feel moisturised almost immediately. I’ve used it on my entire body – it works after shaving my legs, if elbows are dry, and is always welcomed on my dried-out hands.

The smell is quite sweet – some may not like it. But I much prefer the smell of melon to something like magnolia (no offense if that’s your smell).

To me, it’s quite ‘young’ and fresh, without being as young as those fruity Barbie deodorants I had as a kid.

This also came in the 250ml pump bottle, and so it’s really handy to just pump a bit of lotion into my hand with the bottle sitting on my bedside table. I wasn’t able to find any other sizes or fragrances for the lotion – but this may be cool in a 50ml tube.

Herbal Foot Balm

If you take a look through my drawers & cupboards you’ll find a COLLECTION of foot balms. My feet are always getting dry and I am always looking for ways to make them better.

Again, I’m really bad at continuing products, so I haven’t applied this as often as I probably need to. But the nights that I have put it on, my feet are quite soft for the next few days.

I really like the smell of this one, and it’s not as thick as some of the other foot balms I’ve tried – which is a plus for me!

I have the 125ml jar, which sits nicely next to my bed reminding me to use it. You can also get a 250ml jar. Herbal is the only fragrance, but I feel like it’s the only one needed.

Peach & Pomegranate Body Butter

So, since melon stole my heart (and hands, and legs, ha – ha) I have slightly neglected Peach & Pomegranate.

Also, does anyone know the real difference between body butter and body lotion??!

This is one is a little thicker than the lotion, but it still gets absorbed by the skin really nicely. The smell is almost sweeter than the melon – but actually, once it was on my skin the smell kind of neutralised.

This one came in a 50ml tube, so it easier to slip into my bag and carry it with me. But you can get it in 200ml Tube, 250ml Jar, 500ml Jar, 2.5L & 5L Bucket as well.

The body butter also comes in:

Vanilla toffee (sounds amazing!)

Sandalwood (definitely want to try this one)

Would I recommend these products?

Absolutely! Not only would I recommend these to friends and family (the ones that listen) but I’d also feel more than comfortable sending these as gifts.

You can get gift sets, which would make great gifts for birthdays, Mother’s Day, or even as a Get Well gift.

The other great thing is that they’re really affordable – which Earthly Muse does on purpose. So they can be bought for yourself and to give away, without you feeling like you should consult your personal banker.
